    Description

Stunning vintage hand woven and dyed indigo cloth from Mali, West Africa. This piece is usually soft and lightweight compared to most West African textiles, it is ideally suited to be used as a scarf, shawl or throw. I also have new Bambara indigo from Mali, which are heavyweight versions of the Dogon indigo. The textile is made from 5" (13cm) wide handwoven strips which are hand sewn together to form one large piece. Traditionally worn as a wrapper, these cloths all unique in shade, size and wear.
The textile is 41" (104cm) wide x  73" (185cm) long with a raw edge. It is in shades of deep, dark navy indigo and light blue colored cotton There are several patches of wear that have not yet become holes, and few areas of light staining [see photos]. This piece is in heavily worn condition and is a wonderful one-of-a-kind design.
I recommend had washing separately as the dye may run. Wash in cold water with mild soap. I have more vintage African indigo textiles so please see my store for other colors. Combined shipping available on all textiles.  Please ask any questions prior to purchase. Thank you!
All vintage items are 100% authentic and have been previously worn, often in a traditional environment. Every effort has been made to describe any flaws in both words and pictures in the listings however a certain amount of wear should always be expected. Handmade items should also be expected to contain irregularities which I believe adds to their character and does not detract in any way from their quality.
